The Dual-Function Control Box from Harken integrates load controller and control box functionality into a single unit to simplify wiring and speed installation. The unit conserves space with a smaller footprint and requires only half as many wires with the elimination of a standalone load controller. Dual-Function Control Boxes will come with electric Radial Line, Performa, and Rewind winches. Load controllers were previously sold as an optional upgrade to protect hardware from overload.
This significantly reduces the time needed for boatbuilders and yards to install electric winches by making the wiring much less complex, says Davide Burrini, Harken International OEM Sales Manager. It also offers the benefits of an integrated load controller to anyone who chooses Harken electric winches.
Standalone units required as many as fourteen separate wires for each winch on the boat, the new boxes require only seven. Dual-Function Control Boxes support up to two Harken Digital System Switches or two standard analog switches. The unit is available with either standard bolt power connectors or RADLOK fast connectors. Standalone control boxes and load controllers will continue to be offered as spare part only while stock lasts.
